Bridges

A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth that have left a gap in your smile. Dental crowns on each end of the bridge fix it to the natural teeth adjacent to the gap. These neighbouring teeth must be healthy enough to support the bridge.

What does a bridge fitting entail?

During the initial visit, your dentist will administer a local anaesthetic. Once it takes effect, your dentist will reshape the teeth on either side of the gap to prepare to anchor the bridge.

The dentist will then take a scan of the area where the bridge will be placed. This scan is sent to a local laboratory where a technician will create your custom-made bridge. Your dentist will fit a temporary bridge while you wait for your permanent one.

What happens when I get my permanent bridge?

Your dentist will remove the temporary bridge and insert your bespoke-made, permanent bridge, checking it fits correctly before cementing it in place.

Do bridges require any special care?

No. With regular brushing and flossing, along with twice-yearly visits to your hygienist for professional cleaning, your bridge should last for at least 10 years.

A dental bridge is a safe and affordable option for missing tooth replacement. Call us on 01925 266 488 for a consultation and assessment.
